My impressions of Netflix
Wednesday, February 6th, 2008Evan and I signed up for Netflix about a month ago after we were convinced by a two week free trial. We signed up for the $8.99 a month, 1 movie out at a time but unlimited rentals plan. So far, we’ve only watched one movie, so we haven’t got our moneys worth, but it seems like an interesting concept.
Netflix sends you a movie and it typically arrives in one business day. You watch it and send it back and they mail you the next movie down the line in your “queue.” You can queue up however many movies you want.
It’s nice because Netflix pays for shipping both ways. Along with each movie they send you a postage paid envelope to return it. The turnaround is fairly quick too.
Our first movie was “The Longest Day”. It’s a black and white war movie. I didn’t know it was black and white until we got it so I was sorta disappointed, but it turned out well. I enjoyed the movie, I rated it “4 stars.” Evan fell asleep about halfway through so his opinion doesn’t really count.
So far Netflix been just about as good as it could be. We haven’t had very much time to watch movies but I can definitely see why a lot of people prefer Netflix over traditional brick-and-mortar stores.
